Secret Bases

Secret bases are yet another new feature in Ruby/Sapphire. They are created using the move Secret Power (TM 43) and are found where there is a big tree, circular bush or indent in the mountain. You can decorate your base with desks, chairs, dolls, mats, posters, plants, ornaments, or cushions; however, you may only place 16 decorations at a time. You'll probably have noticed that when created, some secret bases have holes in them, and they actually look pretty small. Well, the "decoration" Solid Board will allow you to cross to the other side, considerably expanding the space you have.

There are three "themes" when it comes to Secret Bases: rock, dirt and tree. Rock is a slate-gray very stony looking base. Dirt is brown, and tree-themed bases have a wood floring and leaves as the walls. Tree bases can be found in trees and the bushes, while both rock and dirt bases can be found in indents in the mountain walls.

When you mix records with someone, their secret base will appear in the game. He will be standing on a marked place, depending on the base. Talk to him to battle him without being linked (AI will take over).
